Λοιπόν, λοιπόν, καιρό πριν το λέγαμε παράλληλα με την uber psycho playlist να το ξεκινήσουμε κ νομίζω πως μπορεί να γίνει μια καλή φάσσση....



Προτεινόμενοι κανόνες (συμφωνάτε: καλώς - δεν συμφωνάτε: το συνδιαμορφώνουμε) :

Κ έτσι για το ιστορικό, μια σύντομη αναφορά κ απόψεις από το ANNUAL SURF GUITAR 101 CONVENTION (φέτος νομίζω ήταν το δεύτερο που έγινε στις ΗΠΑ, Los Alamitos, CA) για την Surf Music:

What is Surf Music you ask? Surf Music began somewhere in the grey area between Elvis and the Beatles…. Roughly 1959 to 1963. Despite the commonly repeated legend, Dick Dale did not invent Surf Music. Music as such cannot be invented. Yes, he is a Surf Music GOD and popularized the often imitated double-picking style associated with Surf, but Surf’s origins lie in bands like The Fireballs, Link Wray and even Buddy Holly. Check out the drum rolls in Peggy Sue and you’ll see what I mean. But let’s get back to Surf. Early 60’s instrumental music, plus reverb, plus Southern California equals Surf. In the early 60’s bands like The Surfaris, The Chantays, The Pyramids and countless others would play teen dances at places like the Rendezvous Ballroom, the Retail Clerks’ Hall and other teen haunts around SoCal. These clubs were frequented by teenage surfers and the type of instrumental dance music they played at these clubs would eventually be known world-wide as Surf Music. Two of the often overlooked pioneers of Surf are Paul Johnson and Eddie Bertrand of The Belairs. Their song “Mr. Moto” was an early regional California hit. Paul J. reportedly turned down an offer to play in The Beach Boys but nevertheless remains a Surf guitar legend to this day. Eddie Bertrand went on to form Eddie and The Showmen who recorded “Squad Car”, an often covered classic of Surf. Along came The Beatles and they laid waste to everything that existed before them, including Elvis and Surf. But who cares, right? Instro Surf lives to this day in the form of The Ghastly Ones, The Sand Devils, The Secret Samurai, The Reventlos, The Verbtones, The TomorrowMen, The Surge, The Detonators and more. (...)
